Attribué à SIKIRE KAMBIRE  (1896-1963)

Thiteldhaar (Maître-sculpteur Lobi)

Cet artiste est l'un des rares sculpteurs africains actifs au début du XXème siècle dont la réputation a survécu au temps.

Considéré par certains comme le meilleur et le plus talentueux sculpteur Lobi, il fut formé au sein d'une école réputée, connue sous le nom de Gbökho Gbaläthi, par un grand maître nommé Okuena.
Son activité est confirmée de 1914 aux débuts des années 1940
il tomba malade vers 1942 µ(Djeto ! Fais Attention !, Daniela Bognolo, 1997, Journal des Africanistes , tome 67 fasc 1)
Thomas Keller lui a consacré un livre en 2012

Masque similaire aux masques H25 et H26 pages 55 et 60 dans Lobi Statuary (voire bibliographie)
L'attribution de ce masque à l'artiste ne fait pratiquement aucun doute
Les oeuvres de ses suiveurs, de son atelier sont bien différentes

Sikire Kambire is a Lobi artist and one of the few African sculptors active in the early twentieth century whose reputation has survived in the years.

Considered by some to be the best and most talented Lobi sculptor, he was trained in a renowned school, known as Gbökho Gbaläthi, by a great master named Okuena. Its activity is confirmed from 1914 to the early 1940s

Thomas Keller dedicated a book to him in 2012
