Très beau masque anthropomorphe HEMBA
Ce masque dégage une impression de majesté et de grande sérénité, caractéristique du style Niembo
Assez rare, aussi, on connait le masque de la collection Mestach, illustré dans "Face of the Spirits", dans "Intelligence des formes" et celui qui est dessiné dans "100 people of Zaïre"(p35n9) de Marc Leo Félix, qui signale que ces rares masques viennent du sud du territoire des Hemba
Le peuple Hemba vit dans l'est du Congo Rdc, entre le fleuve Lualaba (fleuve Congo), à l'ouest, et le lac Tanganyka, à l'est
Leur territoire s'articule autour de la rivière Luika qui délimite les Hemba du nord et ceux du sud. Ils sont donc présents dans le sud de la province du Maniema ainsi que dans le nord de la province du Tanganyka
Ils sont géographiquement et culturellement proches des Luba

Superb Anthropomorphic HEMBA Mask
Very beautiful Hemba anthropomorphic mask that gives off an impression of majesty and great serenity, a caracteristic of the Niembo style.
Rare, too, in this style, we know the mask of the collection Mestach, illustrated in "Face of the Spirits" and the one that is drawn in "100 people of Zaire" (p35n9) Marc Leo Felix, who reports that these rare masks come from southern Hemba territory
The Hemba live in eastern Congo DRC, between the Lualaba river (Congo river), to the west, and Lake Tanganyka, to the east
Their territory is articulated around the Luika river which delimits the Hemba of the north and those of the south. They are therefore present in the south of the province of Maniema as well as in the north of the province of Tanganyka.
They are geographically and culturally close to the Luba
