Les Metoko sont les descendants de migrants Lega  installés et sédentarisés dans la région du moyen Lwalaba. A l'instar des Lega, leur vie politique et sociale est organisée  autour  d’une association initiatique semi-secrète, le BUKOTA, que l'on peut comparer au  BWAMI de leurs ancêtres.

Ce type de masque servait dans le cadre de ce culte.
