Statue d'ancêtre " Singiti " HEMBA
Les Hemba sont un peuple vivant dans la province du Katanga (Congo Rdc) entre le fleuve Congo et le lac Tanganyika. Ils sont géographiquement et culturellement proches des Luba.
Leurs effigies d'ancêtres sont célèbres. Elles représentent les chefs décédés et vénérés par la tribu, elles aident leurs successeurs à légitimer leur pouvoir politique.

Hemba Ancestor figure (Singiti)
The Hemba are a people living in the province of Katanga (Congo Rdc) between the Congo River and the Lake Tanganyika. They are geographically and culturally close to the Luba.
Their ancestors figures are famous. They represent the deceased leaders and, venerated by the entire tribe, they help their successors to legitimize their political power. They give off an impression of majesty and great serenity.

(ex Belgian Congo, ex Zaïre).
