D'après l'étude sur les masques Vuvi de Charlotte Grand-Dufay qui se réfère à la thèse d'anthropologie de Paulin Kialo, les masques utilisés lors des rites d'initiation des jeunes hommes étaient généralement bicolores
Masques bicolores dont elle souligne aussi la rareté

Comme ceux de leurs voisins Mitsogho, les masques Vuvi ont ont une grande diversité de formes; leurs points communs étant des faces presque planes, séparées par deux arcs de cercles réunis par un appendice triangulaire et une stylisation très forte

Les Vuvi sont un peuple vivant  dans la grande forêt du Gabon central, ils sont proches des culturellement des Tsogho, leurs rites sont similaires et il leur arrive même d'échanger leurs masques

VUVI Mask

Beautiful bicoloured mask whitened with kaolin

According to the study on Vuvi masks by Charlotte Grand-Dufay, referring to the anthropology thesis of Paulin Kialo, masks used during young men’s initiation rites were generally bicoloured. She also underlines the rarity of such two-tone examples.

Like those of their Mitsogho neighbours, Vuvi masks display a great diversity of forms; their common features being almost flat faces, divided by two arcs of a circle joined by a triangular appendage, and a very strong stylisation.

The Vuvi are a people living in the great forest of central Gabon. They are culturally close to the Tsogho; their rituals are similar, and they sometimes even exchange masks.
