Le Bwami était une société initiatique de grade dont les rites secrets étaient réservés aux initiés. Cette association organisait la structure sociale et assurait la stabilité de la communauté Lega.

LEGA anthropomorphe (Iginga) figure
This kind of figurine was used as part of the Bwami cult during scenes illustrating the aphorisms of which the Lega are fond. They were kept in wicker bags, many applications of oils gave them these incomparable colors.
The Bwami was an association that organized the social structure and ensured the stability of the Lega community.
The Lega are a Bantu forest people of Central Africa, established in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), in the provinces of South Kivu and Maniema.
