CONGO DRC

LARGE CULT STATUE  LUBA

Very beautiful sculpture, powerful
She combines most of the characteristics of Luba art, firmly planted on her legs, serene, hands on her shoulders, scarifications
The shoulders are flared
The face is darker than the rest of the statue, a characteristic sometimes found among the Eastern Luba, among the Hemba, as well.

It is said to have been sculpted in a workshop in the Lukuga region.

Another peculiarity is the representation of the hairstyle, seen from the front, which gives the statue an almost solar appearance.
