Expressive and powerful mask
This mask is very close to the one illustrated in Ubangi, pages 62 and 63
Presented as one of the most striking masks of the North Congo, attributed according to the sources to the Ngbaka, the Ngbandi or the Mbanza
The legend (page 218) of the sketch made on page 219 places its origin north of the Mongala River (the question of its origin remains open)
The Ngbaka or Bwaka live in the north of Congo, in Ubangi (or Ubangi)
They are the neighbors of the Ngbandi, the Ngombe and the Ngata
Features:
