Very beautiful mask, probably Bali or Ndaaka
carved wood and pigment, with half-moon eyes and mouth and painted spot decoration all over the face
A very similar mask was sold in 2020 by
Lyon & Turnbell, Edinburgh (African & Oceanic Art, Antiquities and Natural History)
The Bali (or Baali) people live in the Ituri province, just north of the Kumu - Komo
A little to the northwest live the Ndaka (or Ndaaka) to whom they are linked and artistically strongly influenced.
