Female cult statuette
LUBA
This apparently ancient statue is typically in the style of the Eastern Luba.
Its previous owner told me that it came from a Honga workshop.
Very beautiful face
As is often the case in Luba art, the work is imbued with great serenity.
The Luba are a large people of eastern DRC. Their caryatid seats, cup carriers, chiefs' sticks, arrow holders, adzes and cult statues are very famous and among the most prized objects in African Art.
