LENGOLA - Superb Stool
Small seat with bold architecture.
Four stylized characters each reduced to a head and two limbs which join those of their neighbors to form a closed chain with very elegant interlacing.
A Lengola seat with a very similar design can be seen in the work of ML Félix (page 76-77, n°3, see bibliography). Another stool in " L'Art Lega - Grandeur et Humilité" page 454
Their art (and particularly this stool) has some similarities with that of the Lega, located further east.

The Lengola are a Bantu forest people of Central Africa, installed in the east-central part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), They are politically and culturally close to Mbole, Metoko, Kela and Yela
